My Findings for 2015

As I start to complete my leadership inquiry for 2015 I have posted my findings and what I intend to focus on next year. If you use MyPortfolio I also have a page entitled Korero 16 - Leadership/Inquiry. On this site I have put all my reflections, thoughts and findings.

Start of Term 4

My new inquiry big question is: What is learner agency and how could I develop this at my school?

A lot has happened for my inquiry. I have thought long and hard about where it is headed and have narrowed my focus right down to be all about learner agency. I have 3 sections to my inquiry: Leadership; Team Teaching and Personalised Learning. On the TAKING ACTION page you can read about what I have been up to and see where I am going this term.

Learner Agency - Refining my Inquiry

After a discussion with Robyne and also reflecting on the vast scope of my inquiry I have decided to focus in on a particular aspect that encompasses much of what I want to achieve.
Learner Agency. My inquiry question has been refocused to investigate learner agency: what this looks like, what this could look like in my school and how I can achieve this in my school.

New Learning and Research

I have watched 3 clips from Ed Talks around Modern Learning Practice as I am still struggling to see what the learning looks like in a modern learning space. There are a lot of people talking about the spaces and furniture, but I really want to unpack the learning that takes place within these spaces. I think that Universal Design for learning would work nicely here.

Google Docs

I have added a reflection of the use of Google Docs in my classroom and 2 videos about this. thr first video is a reflection by me of my Google Docs journey and the leadership around this. The second is of some students from my room, and their thoughts about Google Docs and my leadership within the class.

Coaching Sessions

Janine and I have been engaged in much discussion around our leadership Inquiries and also beginning the change at our school. We have discussed what is going well in terms of team teaching and also in using digital technologies. We have also worked together over several session in developing the seeds of change, and planning the structure of the staff meetings to begin this change. This discussion and thinking about the staff meetings can be seen on my Taking Action page, scroll down to read about: Developing a shared vision, learner agency and our school's why and then read my reflection, and my collaborative reflection done with Janine.

Taking Action

I have been very busy with enacting change, leading change and being part of change this term. These changes have been with the staff in staff meetings, in my class with team teaching and using digital technologies and also thinking about myself as a leader. Developing a hunch

Using the scanning phase and focusing phase findings, I have developed two main hunches for my leadership inquiry. It was hard defining these hunches, but I feel that they are a good place for me to start my initial investigations into my inquiry. They can be found on the developing a hunch page of my blog.

I have used my discoveries during the scanning phase to come up with the main focuses for my leadership inquiry. These can be found on the focus page of my blog.

Scanning Updated

I have updated the scanning phase of my blog. It has made me think a lot about where we have come from, where we are at now and where we need to be heading into the future.
